Crescent University Abeokuta was established as a private University by the Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) in consonance with her doctrine and vision. The operating license from the Federal Government of Nigeria was obtained from the National University Commission in 2005. The mission of the University is “to ensure the delivery of university education in ways that recognise personal discipline and integrity and promote positive societal values.” In this regard, we are committed to total quality assurance consciousness in terms of staffing, teaching and the learning environment, equipment support base, infrastructure and super structural development.
The University is assisting in closing the widening gap between attainable potential student population and limited space in Nigerian tertiary education system. The University is producing graduates that fit into the economic agenda of the nation. We are building a new generation of graduates imbued with industry and diligence as well as the inculcation of spiritual reawakening and moral uprightness in the development of humanity. As a unique element, the university is assisting in the global quest for accelerating the education of the girl child towards the rapid build-up of women professionals.
The administration of the University is based on the Islamic tenets and practice, but all students are welcome in the University irrespective of colour, race, religion, tribe or ethnicity. The academic and administrative staff are also from multifarious religious beliefs, race, ethnicity, and social backgrounds
